Every March, the Education Committee of the National Association of Italy’s Partisans (Commissione scuola ANPI “Dolores Abbiati” – Brescia) holds its yearly Seminar for Brescia secondary school students in Brescia, Italy.
The students play an active role in our Seminar. Divided into groups, they research a particular subject, and present it to their fellow students from other schools with the help of slides, videos, or other tools. A guest speaker listens to the proceedings, comments on the presentations she/he has followed throughout the morning, and ends the Seminar with a lecture on that year’s topic.
This year’s Seminar — Which will take place on Friday 10th March, from 9 am to 1 pm and live-streamed on our YouTube channel — will have an international perspective, and discuss Memory, Democracy and Anti-fascism with the help of foreign-based tutors from Germany, the United States, Great Britain and Spain.
Working Class History, ANPI’s Spanish branch “Guido Picelli”, and HOPE not hate’s Matthew Collins among others have supported our students as tutors in their respective projects, and will connect on video-link (or visit Brescia and be with us in person) to follow the Seminar.
This year’s guest speaker will be Tomaso Montanari, Professor of History of Modern Art and Rector of the University for Foreigners of Siena.
