Just an ordinary break-in?
On Monday night, May 26th (or in the early hours of the 27th of May,) our offices were broken into. A considerable sum of money was stolen, as membership fee money had been delivered that day and was waiting to be taken to the bank on Tuesday. An old laptop was also taken away by intruders, who rummaged through lockers and desks. Ours were not the only premises in the building which were broken into: the same happened to the National Association of Italian Political Deportees (ANED), and the City Council personnel’s recreational organization offices.
However, some excrement was left outside the ANPI offices, wrapped in one of our leaflets, which had been printed and handed out last year, during the campaign against the erection of the “Fascist Era” statue in the centre of Brescia.
It’s not clear whether any copy of the leaflet was still available in our offices, so the police are looking into the possibility that that leaflet may have been taken by the intruders with them in anticipation of this raid.
Another disturbing detail is that this comes on the eve of the 40th anniversary of the Piazza della Loggia bombing, which will be marked in Brescia tomorrow, the 28th of May.
