The director of the Shoah Museum in Rome, Marcello Pezzetti, expressed his concerns about plans to restore the 24-ft high “Fascist Era” statue to the central Piazza della Vittoria in Brescia.
In an interview published by the Corriere della Sera in the paper’s local news section, Marcello Pezzetti said, “I can’t but share the reasons behind the protest raised by the ANPI and FFVV. That monument must not go back on that pedestal.”
“Something like this could only happen in Italy. It wouldn’t be even mentioned in Germany or Austria. It would be an insult.”
